Following terrorists attacks & rocket barrage that hit the city of Haifa, the Home Front Command ordered last week the Haifa Port authority to evacuate all cargo vessels from the port, until further notice.
This week the port of Haifa partly re-opened and had handled few containerships, yet most cargo ships that were en route to Israel were diverted to the port of Ashdod.
Due to the situation and the fear that the Hezbollah will continue targeting Haifa, the president of the Israeli chamber of shipping Mr. Reuven Zuck called upon all members to advise their principles about the situation and recommended that ships diverted to the port of Ashdod will declare "Termination Of Voyage" at the port of Ashdod.
A few members have already confirmed that their ships will unload Haifa cargo at the port of Ashdod. The Ashdod port authority made last week the necessary preparation for large-scale absorption of cargo and passenger ships.
The management reinforced manpower and recruit additional employees in order to enable continuous work on the docks.
