Export Institute director General Mr. Yechiel Assia said last week that Israeli exports to Latin America, excluding diamonds, rose in January-September 2004, by 27% to $773 million.
The Export Institute director general predicted that total exports to Latin America countries will grow this year by 31%, to $1 billion. The increase, according to Mr.Yechiel Assia, is mostly attributed to the growing sales of telecommunications equipment, chemicals and refined oil products.
Exports to Argentina rose 84% to $37.5 million, exports to Brazil rose 25% to $351 million, exports to Bolivia rose 600% to $4 million, exports to Mexico rose 23% to $215 million and exports to Venezuela rose 90% to $41 million.
Mr.Yechiel Assia said that the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute was planning in an effort to boost sales to the region, to send nine trade delegations to Latin America countries this year.
