According to the outgoing Ashdod port Chairperson the company has to continue implementing the port development plan and add 100 new employees and should continue the NIS700 million investment program

Mrs. Iris Stark, the outgoing Ashdod port Chairperson, sent a farewell letter to the port clients expressing her gratitude for the support and co-operation she enjoyed during her 3 years term of office. In her letter Stark emphasized the port's achievements which led to unparallel growth in the port's business activities, mainly due to the introduction of new shipping services; Yang Ming, Cosco, K Line as well as Hanjin.

Stark noted, however, that many of the old problems had not yet been solved and much was needed to improve port services, to enable the port to provide the necessary level of productivity the Israeli economy needs.

The company, according to Stark, has to continue implementing the port development plan and add 100 new employees and should continue the NIS700 million investment program approved last year by the port's board of directors.

Special emphasis was made in her letter to the fact that the port must ensure its financial strength, re-negotiate its infrastructure leasing fees with the Israel Port and Assets company and prepare itself to the era of new port fee structure which will reduce port's income and may adversely affect its development plans.
